Governor's Victory Bell
Minnesota and Penn State both boast impressive resumes dating back to the 1880’s, but it wasn’t until Penn State’s admission into the Big Ten Conference in 1993 that these two historic programs would face off on the gridiron. Established by the governors of Minnesota and Pennsylvania, The Governor’s Victory Bell has been the prize awarded to the winner of this Big Ten clash.
The Governor’s Victory Bell has a brass bell adorned with the Big Ten logo hanging above a wooden plaque. Below the bell are the logos of both schools and on the base of the trophy the scores of each game are listed.
Penn State currently holds a 10-6 advantage in the series. The Nittany Lions rolled off four straight wins before Minnesota returned the favor. Penn State would again win four in a row and the teams have split since then. After a break in 2023 the teams will again meet this November.
Our Governor’s Victory Bell has a base of 9x5, is 14 inches tall and weighs 7 ½ lbs. Please note the bell on our replica is stationary, thus you’ll not hear any ringing. It’s the fifth rivalry trophy involving Minnesota and Penn State’s second, though the whereabouts and future of The Land Grant Trophy remain unclear.
